The Certificate in Medical Education is an approved programme of study consisting of three 20-credit modules: -
The full programme would be part time, and would consist of predominantly distance and self-directed learning organized around 3 blocks of 3 contact study days, which are spread over a 9 month period. Assessment is by coursework assignment rather than examination.
The Diploma in Medical Education is an approved programme of study consisting of three 20-credit modules: -
Timetabling of study day blocks is fixed, but some of the other sessions—for examle, surgeries—are more flexible, with options to choose from. These more flexible sessions will be bookable via the online booking system. More information about the arrangements for booking will be included in the induction.
Unlike study days, which are all mandatory, surgeries are optional sessions. They are for you to discuss your assignments, on a one-to-one basis, with academics on the programme team. You do not have to book them, but we highly recommend that you do.
Surgeries last 30 minutes for the Certificate (45 minutes for the Diploma) and can be done by phone, Skype, or similar facility.
As a rule, you are entitled to one surgery per module, if the module has surgeries.
